Hi, I'm Lonnie Souder, software engineer, tech expert, gaming enthusiast, and lover of shaggy dogs.
Before, settling on software engineering, I wanted to be a music teacher, and early on, I did actually get some teaching experience under my belt---first as an instructor and composer for high school marching bands, and later as a college tutor. I opted to major in engineering for "practical" reasons, but my passion for teaching and mentoring never waned. My hope is that I can use this blog to further that instinct.
In my time in the tech industry, I've consulted for teams as small as two members, and I've worked in FAANG company research teams. I've worked full time, salaried positions and contracts. I've been an intern, and I've led teams in best practices to boost our output when we needed it most.
I've done extensive work in C++, CUDA, OpenCV, and Python almost exclusively for the purposes of performance optimization. ("Oh! That's why he picked that weird title!") I like to play with all things computer vision, graphics, VR, AR, and gaming.
I hope I can show you something new or clarify something old. Feel free to reach out for any reason at all. You'd likely make my day. Until then...
Happy coding!
